On Thursday October 18th, The Institute Of Light reloads for Autumn 2018 with a fresh kitchen in residence, Okonomiyaki “松風堂/Sho Foo Doh” & and the brand new BBE AUDIO LOUNGE.

Chef Fumio Tanga and his Sho Foo Doh team present unclassic Japanese snacks + Hiroshima style okonomiyaki four nights a week from Wednesday to Saturday.

“There are a few different okonomiyaki styles in different regions in Japan. The most popular and well-known one worldwide is the Osaka-style, which is a more doughy pancake where all the ingredients are mixed into the batter. Hiroshima-style on the other hand is more layered, starting with a thin crepe, loads of vitamin K boosting cabbages, beanshoots, pork belly, egg noodles and an omelette, with sauce, mayo, benishoga ginger and scallions on top.” Fumio Tanga

On the same night, in the same space, BBE Music are also launching their new Audio Lounge open Wednesday to Saturday evenings after the record store closes. There will be nightly DJ’s playing on our new system, set up by Audio Gold (Klipsch & Celestion Ditton speakers + Icon valve amps). Come for a drink, we’ll be serving cocktails, natural wines & local beers c/o Louie Louie.

BBE’s record shop The BBE Store is open Mon-Sat 12-7pm & stocks thousands of new & 2nd hand vinyl & CDs. Every week we drop a batch of records on the floor so there’s always something fresh to dig.

The launch party will feature legendary selector Japan Blues (NTS Radio) playing the finest London selection of Japanese grooves, from the 30s to 80s, and more. All Japanese music ranging from folk, jazz, psychedelia, new wave, soul, disco and electronic.

6pm – 11pm, Thursday October 18th at The Institute Of Light, Arch 376, 10 Helmsley Place, E8 3SB London.
