Prepare to be saved! Following their 2014 collaborative album ‘Lo-Fi Classics’, multi-instrumentalist producer Mr Bird and astoundingly talented singer Greg Blackman revisit one of the record’s highlights, alongside a trio of brand new remixes. ‘Save Me’ is a delightful slice of anthemic, gospel tinged soul-jazz, combining an irrepressible, toe-tapping groove with a truly memorable call and response vocal hook.
First up on remix duty, Renegades of Jazz takes ‘Save Me’ into funky breakbeat territory. Delivering on his promise to “bring the Jazz back to the dancefloor” the German producer’s remix is bass-heavy and club-ready.
Next, Ill Advised drops a highly polished jazz version, smooth and seductive, with tight drums and a slick groove.
The Paragons of Goodness close out the package with a scratchy, P Funk rework, making great use of horn stabs and adding a truly addictive bass-line all of their own.
