Following their breakout album ‘Grow Slow’, London beat-botherer DJ Vadim and Ghananian vocalist Sena present a trio of musical offcuts we couldn’t quite cram onto the LP.
‘Little Lady’ opens the package in fiery form, with Vadim supplying energetic yet soulful hip hop production, perfectly showcasing Sena’s powerful delivery and empowering lyrics.
Described by Okayafrica as “a funky low tempo hip-hop song carried by Sena’s impressive lyricism”, ‘How Fast It Grows’ is a deeply rooted, understated track with a very real message.
‘Talk To Me’ is a sublime dubby affair, featuring jazzy rhodes piano, blunted beats and twisted, heavily chopped vocals.
Closing out the package, UK producer and remixer Sam Redmore tackles album highlight ‘Boneshaker’. Consistently finding favour on BBC radio with his brilliant edits, Sam’s remix of ‘Boneshaker’ is a potent slice of funk-influenced party reggae, making use of the original horns whilst adding heavyweight bass and big drum fills.
