Finders Keepers

Ahead of a hotly anticipated full-length album slated for release on BBE in early 2020, MF Robots make their label debut with a funkafied new version of the slept-on Chairmen Of The Board classic ‘Finders Keepers’.

Coming together in 2013 as members of the Brand New Heavies, band founder Jan Kincaid and vocalist Dawn Joseph instantly clicked and began writing new songs within a week of first meeting. Calling themselves MF Robots, a subtle reference to today’s generic musical landscape, the duo left the Heavies to pursue their burgeoning partnership, which has already borne a great deal of fruit in a short space of time.

Currently putting the finishing touches to their (as yet untitled) new album for BBE, we’re excited to offer up a taste of the MF Robots sound in the form of this stunning cover of 1974 Chairmen Of The Board track ‘Finders Keepers’. Dawn Joseph’s powerful vocals shine bright on this uptempo, horn and clav-laden version, while Jan Kincaid’s distinctive rhythmic arrangement keeps the track rolling forward with a hefty portion of funk momentum.
